Indefinite Pronouns (Belirsiz Zamirler); yeri, kimliği veya miktarı tam ve kesin olarak belirtilmeyen insan, nesne veya mekânların yerini tutan zamirlerdir.
Türkçedeki karşılıkları “biri”, “hiç kimse”, “herkes”, “bir şey”, “her yer” gibi sözcüklerdir.
İngilizcede belirsiz zamirler 4 temel ek ile türetilir:

2. Core Usage Rules (Temel Kullanım Kuralları) 🧭
Belirsiz zamirleri doğru kullanmak için 3 temel kuralı bilmek gerekir:
Rule 1: Singular Verb Agreement (Tekil Fiil Uyumu) ⚠️
Everyone, somebody, nothing gibi zamirler anlamca çoğul gibi görünseler de gramer açısından DAİMA TEKİL ÖZNE kabul edilirler! Yanlarına gelen fiil tekil fiil (is, was, does, has, V-s) olmak zorundadır.
- 🟢 Everyone is here. (Herkes burada. — ‘are’ denmez!)
- 🟢 Somebody has stolen my wallet! 👛 (Biri cüzdanımı çaldı!)
- 🟢 Nothing was left on the table. 🍽️ (Masada hiçbir şey kalmamıştı.)
Rule 2: Differences between Some-, Any-, No-, Every- (Kullanım Alanları) 🎯
1️⃣ SOME- Group (Olumlu Cümleler) ✨
Olumlu cümlelerde veya teklif/rica belirten sorularda kullanılır.
- 🟢 There is someone at the door. 🚪 (Kapıda biri var.)
- ☕ Would you like something to drink? 🥤 (İçecek bir şey ister misiniz? — Teklif)
2️⃣ ANY- Group (Olumsuz ve Soru Cümleleri / “Herhangi Bir”) ❓
Olumsuz cümlelerde (not içeren) ve standart bilgi sorularında kullanılır. Olumlu cümlede kullanılırsa “herhangi bir…” anlamına gelir.
- 🛑 I don’t know anyone in this city. 🏙️❌ (Bu şehirde hiç kimseyi tanımıyorum.)
- ❓ Is there anything in the box? 📦❓ (Kutuda bir şey var mı?)
- 🟢 You can sit anywhere you like. 🪑 (İstediğin herhangi bir yere oturabilirsin.)
3️⃣ NO- Group (Anlamca Olumsuz / Yapıca Olumlu) 🛑
Kendi bünyesinde olumsuzluk barındırır. Bu zamirlerin olduğu cümlede ikinci bir “not” olumsuzluk eki KULLANILMAZ!
- 🟢 There was nobody in the room. 🚪 (Odada hiç kimse yoktu.)
- ❌ Incorrect: There wasn’t nobody in the room.
4️⃣ EVERY- Group (Kapsayıcı / Her Biri) 🌍
Gruptaki tüm birey veya nesneleri kapsar.
- 🟢 Everyone enjoyed the party. 🥳 (Herkes partiden keyif aldı.)
- 🟢 I have searched everywhere for my keys. 🔑 (Anahtarlarım için her yere baktım.)

A. Question Tags & Pronoun Reference (“They” Rule)
Belirsiz zamirler gramer olarak tekil fiil alsa da; Question Tag oluştururken veya cümleye devam ederken THEY / THEIR / THEM çoğul zamirleriyle karşılanırlar! 🧠
- 🟢 Everyone passed the exam, didn’t they? 📝 (didn’t he/she denmez!)
- 🟢 Somebody left their umbrella here. ☂️ (Cinsiyet bilinmediği için ‘their’ tercih edilir)
- 🛑 Nobody came to the party, did they? 🥳
B. Modifying Indefinite Pronouns (Sıfat ve “Else” Ekleme)
Belirsiz zamirlerin niteliğini artırmak için zamirden HEMEN SONRA sıfat veya else kelimesi getirilir!
👉 Formül: Indefinite Pronoun + Adjective OR Indefinite Pronoun + ELSE
- 🟢 I want to tell you something important. 💡 (Sana önemli bir şey söylemek istiyorum.)
- 🟢 Let’s go somewhere quiet. 🌿 (Gidelim sessiz bir yere.)
- 🟢 Is there anyone else coming? (Gelen başka bir kimse var mı?)
- 🟢 I have nothing else to say. 🗣️ (Söyleyecek başka hiçbir şeyim yok.)
C. 🔗 Indefinite Pronouns + To-Infinitive (Eylem Ekleme)
Zamirden sonra doğrudan to + V1 getirilerek yapılması gereken eylem belirtilir.
- 🟢 I need something to drink. 🥤 (İçecek bir şeye ihtiyacım var.)
- 🟢 There is nothing to do in this town. 🏙️ (Bu kasabada yapacak hiçbir şey yok.)
- 🟢 She has nowhere to go. 🏠❌ (Gidecek hiçbir yeri yok.)
D. 🔢 Other Plural & Singular Indefinite Pronouns (Diğer Belirsiz Zamirler)
Sadece -body, -one, -thing, -where grupları değil, miktar belirten şu sözcükler de belirsiz zamirdir:
- Her Zaman Tekil Alanolarlar:Each, Either, Neither, One, Another
- 🟢 Neither of the answers is correct. ❌ (İki cevaptan hiçbiri doğru değil.)
- Her Zaman Çoğul Alanlar:Both, Few, Many, Several
- 🟢 Both of the stories are true. 📚 (Her iki hikaye de doğru.)
- Cümleye/İsme Göre Değişenler:All, Any, More, Most, None, Some
- 🟢 Some of the water is dirty. 🥛 (Tekil / Sayılamayan)
- 🟢 Some of the books are missing. 📚 (Çoğul)
Singular indefinite pronouns:
– Negative: no one, no body, nothing, nowhere…
– Universal: everyone, everybody, everything, everywhere…
– Assertive existential: someone, somebody, something, somewhere…
– Elective existential: anyone, anybody, anything, anywhere…
Plural indefinite pronouns:
-Universal: others, many, several…
Plural or Singular indefinite pronouns (depending on the context):
–all, any, more, such…
